Robert A. Hefner V | Founder & CEO

Mr. Robert Hefner is Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Hefner Energy.

He was previously Land Manager at SET Exploration & Production from 2014-2015 and ran a land brokerage company from 2008-2014 which, at its height, managed more than 1 million gross acres across the Permian and Anadarko basins for clients inclusive of Fortune 100s. At SET, he was responsible for identifying and creating exploratory horizontal drilling prospects alongside management counterparts. During his little less than two years in that capacity, they evaluated more than $3 billion in property across the East Texas, Permian, San Juan, Dalhart, and Anadarko basins.

Mr. Hefner is involved in his community as a member of Rotary Club of Oklahoma City, ADAM-Tulsa, OEE, OIPA, OIPA's Wildcatters' Club, OCAPL, AAPL, and ADAM-OKC where he has served as President since its inception in 2014. He holds his B.B.A. from the University of Oklahoma and is named to Forbes list of 30 under 30 for his outstanding achievements at a young age in Energy & Industry.

The Hefner family has been active in oil and gas since Robert A. Hefner Sr ("The Judge") began his law practice in Beaumont, TX in 1902, the location of the world-famous Spindletop oil discovery.


Justin Woody | Partner & COO

Mr. Justin Woody joined Hefner Energy in 2016 as Chief Operating Officer, responsible for all operations: engineering and geosciences analyses, valuation, and finance before exercising his option to become a partner in March 2017.

He previously served in various roles at Questar Corporation (NYSE:STR), a vertically integrated natural gas company located in Salt Lake City, Utah as well as a EOG Resources (NYSE:EOG). Mr. Woody most recently served as Vice President of Engineering and Geosciences. In this capacity he was responsible for 10-K SEC reserves reporting, managing a $150MM annual drilling budget, $100MM annual acquisition budget, and oversaw the engineering, geoscience, and operations team of 150 employees.  While managing at Questar, Mr. Woody’s team realized over 25% growth in earnings, evaluated over $5 billion of assets for acquisitions, and executed $250MM in transactions.

Outside the business arena, Mr. Woody has worked hard to help local communities and students.  Mr. Woody worked diligently with the University of Utah stakeholders over a two year process to bring a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering to the University which began Fall of 2013.  Mr. Woody also served on the University of Utah College of Engineering Advisory Committee working to help bring students, business, and the university closer together, focusing on curriculum and providing students with jobs after graduation. He has presented at numerous industry conferences, including the AGA and AAPL, as an expert on macroeconomic supply/demand and pricing issues facing the oil and gas industry.

Mr. Woody holds his B.S. in Chemical, Biological, and Materials Science Engineering from the University of Oklahoma with Distinction, his M.B.A. from the University of Utah, and was named one of Oil & Gas Investor’s 20 under 40 Rising Stars in E&P.
