Mr. Robert A. Hefner V founded Hefner Energy in 2009.
Mr. Robert A. Hefner V is Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Hefner Energy, LLC, Hefner Energy Holdings, LLC, and The Mineral Company, LLC.
Robert has largely spent his more than a decade career in the energy business building companies. He has managed more than 1 million gross acres for Fortune 100 companies like Chesapeake Energy (NYSE:CHK), evaluated more than $10 billion in property for acquisition, and acquired more than 100,000 acres across the lower 48 onshore representing more than $100mm of assets. He spent a brief period of time in 2014 and 2015 working for the Louis-Dreyfus family where he was responsible for identifying and acquiring new horizontal exploratory projects in the United States.
Robert is involved in his community and sits on numerous boards including ADAM-OKC (www.adamokc.org) where he has been thankful to serve as its Co-Founder & President since 2014. He holds his B.B.A. from the University of Oklahoma and has been named to Forbes' list of 30 under 30.
Robert is the fifth generation in the energy business with a family history dating back more than a century.
Mr. Justin C. Woody joined Hefner Energy in 2016 as Chief Operating Officer responsible for reservoir engineering, geology, finance, and analytics.
Prior to joining Hefner Energy, Justin was Vice President of Engineering and Geosciences at Questar Corporation, now Dominion Resources (NYSE:D). In this capacity he was responsible for 10-K SEC reserves reporting, a $150mm annual drilling budget, $100mm annual acquisition budget, and operations team of more than 150 employees. While at Questar, Mr. Woody’s team realized over 25% growth in earnings, evaluated over $5 billion of assets for acquisitions, and executed $250mm in transactions. He previously served in various roles at Questar Corporation as well as EOG Resources (NYSE:EOG).
Justin has worked hard to help local communities and students as well. He worked diligently with the University of Utah stakeholders over a two year process to bring a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering to the University which began Fall of 2013. He also served on the University of Utah College of Engineering Advisory Committee working to help bring students, businesses, and the university closer together, focusing on curriculum and providing students with jobs after graduation. Mr. Woody has presented at numerous industry conferences, including the AGA and AAPL, as an expert on macroeconomic supply/demand and pricing issues facing the oil and gas industry.
Justin holds his Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Biological, and Materials Science Engineering from the University of Oklahoma (with distinction) and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah. He was honored in 2013 by being named to Oil & Gas Investor’s inaugural List of 20 under 40 in Exploration & Production.
Mr. John W. Sweeden joined Hefner Energy in July 2017 as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Officer responsible for data systems and architecture.
John previously was Vice President, Finance and Reservoir Engineering from 2014-2017 for Cosmo Energy, a $50mm mineral and royalty company, where he was responsible for investments and developing internal systems to manage 3,400 net acres across 700 sections and 500 producing wells in Oklahoma and Texas.
While at Cosmo John spearheaded the purchase of the Poteet property, Continental Resources’ flagship SCOOP asset. The Poteet Unit’s 10 wells’ production peaked at over 145 million cubic feet of gas per day and 3,200 barrels of oil per day with an average lateral length of less than 7,500 feet. Since 2015, the Poteet Unit has produced more than 40 billion cubic feet of gas and 400,000 barrels of oil.
Prior to Cosmo, John was New Ventures Engineering Manager for Questar Corporation (now NYSE:D) from 2012-2014 where he was responsible for a technical team which acquired $250mm of producing assets in the Rockies. He also served as Production Engineer for Newfield Exploration (NYSE:NFX) during the formative years of their now world-class SCOOP Woodford key asset from 2011-2012.
John holds his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and is a graduate of OU’s Energy Executive Management Program. He is a distinguished lecturer at Oklahoma City Law School and National University of Colombia.
John’s diverse experience extends beyond traditional oil and gas engineering and A&D. John is an expert in advanced data systems and architecture which drives Hefner Energy’s cloud based analytics and machine learning efforts. John has worked directly beside DrillingInfo, Oseberg, and Silicon Valley Software Group (SVSG) to determine best practices for data architecture in the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Matt Powe joined Hefner Energy in July of 2017 as Vice President of Engineering responsible for technical valuations and reservoir analysis.
Mr. Powe was previously Engineering Team Lead at Continental Resources (NYSE: CLR), one of the Senior Engineers responsible for Continental’s SCOOP and STACK development program. Matt began his tenure at Continental as a New Ventures Reservoir Engineer where he led the analyses on transactions exceeding $350 million dollars and acquisition opportunities more than $15 billion dollars. While working in the Anadarko Basin, he performed or supervised analyses on over $20 billion of acquisition opportunities and divestitures totaling more than $1 billion.
During his time with Sandridge (NYSE: SD), he prioritized and monitored drilling plans for 32 rigs in three states through his reservoir engineering role. While with EOG Resources (NYSE: EOG), Matt’s team maintained a >90% ROR in an exploration group with more than $100mm CAPEX per year. During Mr. Powe’s more than 10-year career, he has been responsible for reservoir analysis on over a hundred thousand wells across the country.
Mr. Powe holds his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He has been an Expert Witness for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, Texas Railroad Commission, and the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.
